In any case, it is important to drive carefully, changing gear before taking advantage of greater performance. After installation of the control unit there is increased power and torque for the same engine rotation speed. The greater torque permits moving to the next gear at a lower speed, maintaining the same performance as before. Fewer fuel injections per minute equals less fuel used and, therefore, greater savings.

There are many reasons for this. The first is marketing and segmentation of the product range. Take, for example, a manufacturer like BMW: the engine mounted on the 320d is the same as that on the 316d and the 318d, the only difference between them being in the unit programming – the so-called mapping.

Another reason concerns the amortization of design costs.
The cost of developing an engine is around 1.2-1.5 billion euros: the manufacturer therefore needs to amortize this development cost over at least 10-12 years of production. Therefore, from time to time, the manufacturer modifies the engine management map electronically, to make it appear to the public as new and more attractive.

The third reason concerns environmental conditions: the engine which must work perfectly both at the equator and at the north pole (the air density is highly variable with temperature variations) and therefore certain injection parameters (directly related to the quantity of air sucked in) must be very elastic. TIB APP allows you to fine tune this adjustment based on the environmental conditions in which the engine is being used.

A fourth reason concerns  fuel quality: although Italian fuel is not as excellent as German fuel, it is nonetheless high in octane (or cetane in the case of diesel) and  has excellent  anti-knocking properties (unlike African or Spanish fuels). Therefore, injection anticipation is also finely tuned.

The final reason relates to customer type. The manufacturer must satisfy everyone: from the pensioner who wishes to travel smoothly, to the geek who would sacrifice everything for a little more horsepower and to the professional who only checks his credit card bill from the petrol station.

The TIB APP is connected between the engine control unit and the engine sensors. We optimize these parameters. The instantaneous engine operating parameters are intercepted and optimized according to the driving situation. In this way, the TIB APP optimizes the quantity of fuel injected, the duration of the injection, the time of injection and the boost pressure. The optimization generates better engine recovery, increased power and fuel savings.

Manufacturers prepare engines for an increase in power ahead of time. The manufacturers themselves can offer higher power levels and the evolution of existing components. Furthermore, the greater stress occurs only in the event of full delivery of power (one is not always tablet driving).

Given that the TIB APP is only activated if power is actually supplied (e.g. during acceleration), components such as the engine, clutch, gearbox and brakes are further stressed only as far as is technically sustainable. All the engine’s protection functions (recovery mode) remain unchanged.

TIB APP can be used on engines with a particulate filter (DPF) without any problems. Ditto if the engine is approved for Euro 5 or Euro 6.
